Dwayne Anling (left), Duane Stephenson (center) and Aston “Family Man” Barrett (right) from famous reggae group The Wailers visited Flor’s house, a modest Colombian refugee home in Esmeraldas city. There are more than 50,000 Colombian refugees in Ecuador, and 8,000 of them live in the Esmeraldas province. The Wailers tell the world about malnutrition and its terrible consequences; WFP aids vulnerable people like these Colombian refugees to improve their nutrition with the monthly distribution of food rations. Not having to worry about where their food will come from leaves extra time to look for a job, an in the long run helps them to adapt and integrate.

Barrett clan inspired by Wailers to fight world hunger!

The Wailers and Duane Stephenson pride themselves on making a difference in the world a way of life. These reggae artists have inspired the Barrett family to share the same commitment. This reggae clan, consisting of seven siblings and father Aston, has turned fighting world hunger into a family affair.

Since 2008, the children have worked exceedingly hard to give hunger a voice. This past summer the young activists sold Africa T-shirts in Nantucket at markets. Each shirt they sold fed 40 kids. Not only do buyers get an awesome shirt, but they also learn about the famine that is currently taking place in the Horn of Africa.

To learn more about the Barrett family’s commitment to world hunger, read the full article here! Article courtesy of World Food Programme.

With famine in Somalia and millions of people in need across the Horn of Africa, your support is urgently needed. Every donation means food for another child, another woman on the edge of survival: https://www.wfp.org/hornofafrica

Take a look at the United Nations World Food Programme's latest call to action video.

$15 is enough to feed a hungry child or mother for an entire month through WFP. Only 50 cents per day. Donate here.

You can also donate via text message:

In the US: Text AID to 27722 to donate $10

In Canada: Text RELIEF to 45678 to donate $5

In UK: Text AID to 70303 to donate £3

	More ways you can help:

Order the AFRICA T. Recently launched by Duane Stephenson, 100% of the proceeds go to the United Nations World Food Programme, the world's largest humanitarian agency fighting hunger worldwide.

Take the HORN OF AFRICA ONLINE QUIZ to learn more about the hunger crisis and feed a child.

If anything else, please keep in mind the following:

The declaration of famine in southern Somalia underlines the immense humanitarian needs at the epicentre of this regional crisis. There are more than 11 million people in the region now in need of food assistance, and that number could rise further.

WFP is ramping up operations to respond to growing hunger needs in Ethiopia, Kenya, Somalia, Djibouti and Uganda.

Malnutrition rates are particularly high among refugees from Somalia - especially children - who have been crossing the borders of Kenya and Ethiopia at a rate of around 1,500 per day in each country.

More resources are urgently needed to address hunger among the most vulnerable in the Horn of Africa.

The next rainy season is not due to start until October, and crops planted at this time will only begin to yield harvests in late 2011 or early 2012.
