The Riverkeeper’s Campaign

The campaign is simple. Anyone ordering Honeypots at www.beenatural.com can type in the name of their chosen Riverkeeper (in the ‘comments’ section of the shopping cart) and Bee Natural will donate 25% of their order total to that Riverkeeper.

This is an ongoing campaign. When we reach $100,000.00 raised for Waterkeeper Alliance, we are upping the percentage to 30%, at $200,000, it goes to 35% at $300,000 goes to 40%, $400,000 goes to 45% 500,000 goes to 50%.

If anything else, please keep in mind the following:

The declaration of famine in southern Somalia underlines the immense humanitarian needs at the epicentre of this regional crisis. There are more than 11 million people in the region now in need of food assistance, and that number could rise further.
WFP is ramping up operations to respond to growing hunger needs in Ethiopia, Kenya, Somalia, Djibouti and Uganda.
Malnutrition rates are particularly high among refugees from Somalia - especially children - who have been crossing the borders of Kenya and Ethiopia at a rate of around 1,500 per day in each country.
More resources are urgently needed to address hunger among the most vulnerable in the Horn of Africa.
The next rainy season is not due to start until October, and crops planted at this time will only begin to yield harvests in late 2011 or early 2012.

Save Negril Beach

Sandals Negril has applied to build a major jetty on their beach. This will negatively effect the entire Negril Beach and disrupt the eco-relationship between the beach/morass & reef. Please sign if you would like to prevent this.

“The primary attraction of Negril is the unbroken beach-line. Allowing the development of jetties or any other structures that protrude above the water will have a dramatically negative impact on this natural treasure. As well, any such structure may cause irreparable damage to a critical and fragile ecosystem. As President and CEO of The Reef Environmental and Economic Development Organization, I am very well acquainted with such projects and I am highly opposed to this jetty being built. And remember once one structure has been approved, others will follow. Vote NO to Sandals Negril Jetty.”
