Caught the show at the Boulder Theater in Boulder CO-fantastic as usual. Couple of lineup changes-No Al Anderson (bummer) but were joined by the one and only Junior Marvin on guitar. Very cool to see Junior live. Also, drums were not manned by Drummie-who was here the last 2 times I saw them, but another guy (sorry, couldn’t remember his name). Very good though-didn’t seem to miss anything.
Elan was excellent, as he has been every other show I’ve caught with him fronting. I don’t know what all the wishing for Gary Pine is about. Elan is awesome. His voice and command lyrically is eerily similar to Bob’s, which keeps it authentic, but he also brings his own personality and interaction with the crowd, which is cool. He seems to get along well with the band on stage. I for one am glad he’s with the Wailers and look forward to every show I can get to.
As for the show, great energy from the band. They played a few tunes I haven’t heard in their sets before, as well as a couple of newer tunes (Looking forward to the new album). 2-man horn section was cool, Junior was fantastic-other guitar player was very good as well. The guys played a little over 2 hours, and were encouraged to continue every time Elan asked if we were tired and wanted more. What else can I say-I NEVER get tired of seeing the Wailers and hearing the timeless music of Family-Man and Robert Nesta Marley. Elan-thanks for this new chapter and forward.
Keep it up, Colorado loves you guys, and please keep us on your tour schedules.
